چکیده

 We propose two mathematical models with weighted utility functions for the fair bandwidth allocation and QoS routing in communication networks which offer multiple services for several classes of users. The formulation and numerical experiments are carried out in a general utility-maximizing framework. In this work, instead of being fixed, the weight for each utility function is taken as a free variable. The objective of this paper is to find the structure of optimal weights that maximize the weighted sum of utilities of the bandwidth allocation for each class. We solve it by proposing two models in terms of fairness. Model I and II are constructed to compare different choices for optimal weights. For Model I, the structure of optimal weights form a vector which consists of one for a class and zero otherwise. For Model II, the form of optimal weights is that each weight of utility function is equally assigned. The results are proved and illustrated by software GAMS numerically.

Network Dimensioning Problems of Applying Achievement Functions

In this paper, we focus on approaches in network dimensioning where it allocates bandwidths and attempts to provide a proportionally fair treatment of all the competing classes. We will show that an achievement function can map different criteria onto a normalized scale subject to various utilities. The achievement function can be coped with the Ordered Weighted Averaging method. Moreover, it m...

Inverse Maximum Dynamic Flow Problem under the Sum-Type Weighted Hamming Distance

Inverse maximum flow (IMDF), is among the most important problems in the field ofdynamic network flow, which has been considered the Euclidean norms measure in previousresearches. However, recent studies have mainly focused on the inverse problems under theHamming distance measure due to their practical and important applications. In this paper,we studies a general approach for handling the inv...

A UML Framework for the Dimensioning and Formal Verification of Embedded Systems

The TURTLE UML profile and the open source toolkit TTool define a formal modeling and verification framework for communicating embedded systems design. The paper extends TURTLE and TTool with network calculus techniques. Dimensioning diagrams enable system dimensioning prior to usual object-oriented design and facilitates formal verification of design models. The paper uses a video-conferencing...

Real-Time Distributed Systems Dimensioning and Validation: The TURTLE Method

The TURTLE language and toolkit offer a UML framework for service description, protocol modeling and communication architecture validation. The method associated with TURTLE uses an architectural design pattern where two or several protocol entities rely on a pre-existing communication service. Modeling the pre-existing service with empirical values is error-prone and hampers large space explor...

Hierarchical Facility Location and Hub Network Problems: A literature review

In this paper, a complete review of published researches about hierarchical facility location and hub network problems is presented. Hierarchical network is a system where facilities with different service levels interact in a top-down way or vice versa. In Hierarchical systems, service levels are composed of different facilities. Published papers from (1970) to (2015) have been studied and a c...
